Wole Soyinka gets lecturing job in UAE.
World acclaimed writer, academic, and Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka has joined the New York University Abu Dhabi as a professor of Arts Theater in the United Arab Emirates, UAE.
According to a circular dated August 23, 2022, posted on the school’s website, Professor Soyinka will become the first-ever Noble prize winner to be part of the school’s academic strategy and its mission as an educational institution. Soyinka will play a key role in building the University’s deep strength within the arts and its growth as a preeminent research and teaching university and world-class leader in global education.
Did Professor Soyinka have a working relationship with NYUAD before now?
Yes! He first became a part of the school’s community as a Writer-in-Residence in 2019, visiting through a joint invitation from the African studies, film and New Media, History, Literature, and creative writing and theater program hosted by NYUAD institute, supported by other offices across the university.
