Floods kill 10, displaced many in Adamawa

At least ten persons have been confirmed dead and hundreds displaced in some parts of Girei
Local Government Area of Adamawa state by a rampaging flood.

Executive Secretary of Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency, Dr. Suleiman
Muhammed who confirmed the incident said it occurred in Jabbi Lamba town in Girei Local
Government Area during a torrential rainfall in the state on Thursday, that lasted for about
fifteen hours.

Any rescue effort for the victims
Dr. Mohammed revealed that six corpses have so far been recovered while four are still missing
and yet to be recovered, adding that the disaster led to the hospitalization of three children after a
a building collapsed on them in the town.

He also said the State Emergency Agency has sent out a distress call to NEMA and other
Humanitarian Bodies for assistance, revealing that an assessment team has been detailed to visit
the affected communities to ascertain the level of damage caused by the flood.
