Court remands 68-year-od man for defiling a minor in Osogbo.

68-year-old Ayodele Faremi was yesterday remanded in prison by an Osogbo Magistrate court for allegedly having unlawful carnal knowledge of a ten-year-old girl.

Police Prosecutor, ASP John Idoko, in the charge letter, accused Faremi of taking undue advantage and sexually exploiting the victim whose name has been concealed from the media.

How did it happen?

A report by The Guardian Newspaper said Faremi was arrested on Sunday after a relative of the sexually abused victim, Folashade Ashafa, reported the case to the neighborhood police station in Osogbo.

According to Ashafa, the victim was allegedly first defiled by Faremi when she was aged 9, ever since then, he has continued to have carnal knowledge of the minor twice in the month of May and once in the month of August.

What did the accused plead in court?

The prosecuting police officer, ASP Idoko revealed that Faremi’s offenses are contrary to and punishable under section 31, sub-section 1,2, and sections 22 and 360 of the Child’s Right  Law of Osun State 2007.

Faremi however pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge of defilement, indecent assault, and rape. The presiding judge, O.A Daramola ordered the remand of Faremi in Ilesa Correctional Center and adjourned the case till October 25.
