Third Mainland Bridge partially closed today
There will be a partial closure of some sections of the Third Mainland Bridge today Sunday 14th of August 20222 between the hour of 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, Lagos State Government has announced.
Why is the bridge being closed?
The partial closure is to allow the commencement of repair works by Lagos state Public Corporation on some identified sections with eroded asphalt along the third mainland Bridge. According to the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, rehabilitation work is necessary to solve tailbacks along the bridge at peak periods due to the eroded sections.
The announcement is coming barely a day after the state government also announced a traffic diversion plan on the Marine Bridge for the Apapa outbound lane of the bridge for a period of about 4 months, following a notification from the Federal Ministry of Works.
Any plans for motorists and commuters?
Dr. Oladeinde said traffic will be diverted from one lane to another at the identified section on the bridge, assuring that the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, would be stationed to direct traffic in order to ameliorate inconveniences to motorists.
