2023 Elections: PDP worried about Wike’s romance with APC
The opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP has expressed concern over the growing relationship between Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, and some influential members of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC.
What has Wike done again?
Governor Wike was reportedly seen alongside his Oyo and Benue state counterparts in a meeting with the presidential candidate of the APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu in London. The meeting did not seem to go down well with some party stalwarts in the PDP, who revealed that the recent conduct by the governors may negatively affect the chances of its presidential candidate, Abubakar Atiku, in the 2023 general elections.
Doesn’t Wike’s Conduct qualify for anti-party activities?
Well, there seem to be divergent opinions on Wike’s conduct. While some senior members of the party like former Governor of Kaduna state, and Senator Ahmed Markafi are calling for calm and reconciliation, other members of PDP’s Board of Trustees see Governor Wike’s Conduct as an anti-party activity that must be cautioned.
Any information from Atiku’s camp on the peace deal with Wike?
Although there are reports that both camps have met in London to broker a peace deal, Atiku’s Media Aide, Paul Ibe said he cannot categorically confirm if the meeting was successful.
