Moghalu Loses ADC Presidential Ticket


Former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Kingsley Moghalu lost his bid for the 2023 Presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Who did he lose to?
He lost to the founder of Roots Television, Dumebi Kachikwu. The younger brother of Nigeria’s former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu, polled 977 votes to win the ADC ticket, against second-placed Moghalu, who got 589 votes. Moghalu, who ran on the platform of the YPP in the 2019 presidential election, expressed disappointment over the outcome of the ADC primaries.

What’s his next plan?
While thanking his “supporters, and Nigerians at large yearning for a new and different kind of leadership”, Moghalu said he has yet to determine his future political pursuit. In his statement, Moghalu stated that his commitment to a united and prosperous Nigeria remains unwavering, and he “remains available to serve our country.”
